In May 2010 decision was made to rebuilt the historical building „Altes Tauwerk“ located in Donaufelderstrasse to a modern dormitory for visiting scientists, lecturers as well as students and course participants.
STUWO´s new dormitory is located directly alongside to the campus of the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna and there is a direct access to the university for participants in the souterrain of the dorm. The reconstructed building with its 32 apartments offers a high rate of individual living-comfort. The grand single apartments with integrated kitchen and bathroom are constructed to use it as a small flat when combined. The high class furniture and equipment is simply modifiable so that special wishes can be easily arranged with the management.
Use of the infrastructure (sauna, gym, rehearsal room for musicians) in the Haus Donaufeld, which is located vis-á-vis, is free of charge. Parking space in the subterranean garage of Haus Donaufeld can be hired. This is a competitive and comfortable service offered by the management for a long time period as well as only for single days.
To dorm application
Location
The Campus of the University of Veterinary Medicine is 3 minutes within walking distance. The city centre as well as the other important universities of Vienna (Universität, WU, TU) can be easily reached by public transport within 25 to 30 minutes. There is a tram station “Donaufelder Strasse” (line 26) directly located in front of the dorm, another bus station (Josef-Baumann-Gasse) is only 3 minutes away. (Lines 27A and N20)
The Underground Line U1 will lead you to the big shopping mall “Donauzentrum” within 10 minutes time. The local supply is granted by a big supermarket located in the dormitory´s groundfloor itself and by many small shops in the neighbourhood. The dorm´s infrastructure and the striking distance to “Alte Donau” (local recreation area) provide condition for well-balanced leisure activities.
How to get there by public transport:
U1 station Kagraner Platz → tram station Josef-Baumann-Gasse (line 26) or bus station Josef-Baumann-Gasse (line 27a; 3 stops). Or U6 station Floridsdorf → tram station Josef-Baumann-Gasse (line 26, about 4 minutes)
How to get there by car
motorway A 23 direction A 22/Praha/airport, exit B3 (Kagran) – Donaustrasse (passes into Dückegasse)

Please note! If you book via an agency (for example ÖAD) different prices can be expected!
Personal telephone costs, possible garage rentals, and the expenses for the laundry machines must be paid separately. The rooms are allocated by STUWO and there is no claim for a specific room. Interest accrued on deposits will be credited to the account of the student´s representation.
A non-recurring fee for administration (EURO 75,--) has to be paid in case of signing the contract. For contracts starting in October 2012 the fee will be EURO 78,--. By proving of the non-acceptance at University the fee will be payed back.
