Student life meets art scene

The “Urban Art Festival Styria” and STUWO are working together.

In June 2019 was the first time that STUWO StudentCity Graz acted as the venue for the “Future Icons Festival”, an international festival for street art, graffiti and young innovative art.

The dormitory manager Christa Lorenz had the idea to transform the 7-storey building of the StudentCity Graz into a “work of art”. Since then numerous works of art and installations have been created in the interior and exterior of the StudentCity as well as in the underground parking. The StudentCity will turn into an open-air gallery and art lab this year. You can expect workshops, urban art and live music.

Lots of color, cool beats, interaction and media art

This year’s “Urban Art Festival Styria”, which will take place from June 20th to 25th 2022 in the city of Graz and in Eastern Styria, promises a colorful program and a glimpse into the future. Thanks to the outdoor location and big area, it will be a pleasant event.

International artists from various genres such as street art, music, design, media art, communication and crossover will work with young artists give a live performance at the big final event on Friday, June 24 2022, starting at 6 p.m.

Something for everybody this year

The visitors of the Urban Art Festival can look forward to an exciting and multifaceted program. With street art, graffiti, jams, exhibitions, a huge “Public Art Gallery”, workshops, talks, sound and light installations and live concerts by international artists and collectives, the initiators of the festival want to make “Urban Art” accessible to a broad audience and display current developments in the scene.

The festival center itself, the “STUWO – StudentCity Graz”, will become an art platform this year and will be transformed into a huge open-air gallery and an art lab, where artists, scientists and musicians from different European countries can work together. Additionally the building will be painted and sound and light installations will appear.
