Snorkeling, diving
The crystal clear water of the Traun offers many experiences and great adventures. One of them is river snorkeling. Equipped with diving goggles, fins and a snorkel, you can drift downhill and explore the fascinating underwater world of the Traun.
There are various snorkeling tours available, you will find over four kilometers of the Traun, which are accessible at every water level. For those who want to dive even deeper, there are also numerous diving tours that are suitable for every level of training.
Bike, swim, hike
The Traun-Alm Spitz is a real insider tip. The Alm flows into the Traun at the Hafeld Bridge and you can clearly see how the different colors of the two bodies of water come together.
Opposite of the bridge is a pebble beach, which serves as a popular swimming area. There is also a cycling path that leads from Lambach to the Traun Bridge and is ideal for a free afternoon!
Hiking, culture
What do Marie Antoinette, Mozart and Napoleon have in common? They all visited the Lambach Benedictine Abbey! Lambach Abbey is a Benedictine monastery and, like the Way of St. James and Benedict Path, is seen as a junction for several pilgrimage routes.
The monastery, which is over 1000 years old, offers you the opportunity to marvel at Romanesque frescoes from the 11th century and allows you to take part in guided tours through the monastery and its archives.
You can relax in the courtyard on wooden benches or in the guest garden of the Stiftskeller restaurant and admire the magnificent floral decorations.
After visiting the monastery, the surrounding hiking trails offer you idyllic insights into the foothills of the Alps. If you are interested in history, historical buildings and culture, then you’ve come to the right place!
Bike
This one is for all sports enthusiasts: various bike tours offer great opportunities for a study break in the landscapes around Lambach. A highlight is the bike tour along the Roman bike path to Redlham. This bike tour of approx. 14 km leads from Lambach via Schwanenstadt to the Redlham quarry pond.
At some contemplative places on the shore of the quarry pond, you can let nature work its magic on you. However, the quarry ponds are not approved for swimming.

Lambach offers many places for anyone looking to cool off in summer. There are numerous swimming lakes around Lambach. One of the most beautiful is in Leithen and offers you about 35,000m² of pure swimming pleasure. You have plenty of options for your enjoyment: a selection of wooden swimming islands, swing ropes, bathing jetties, spring water showers, sunbathing areas and much more.
In spring and autumn, the landscape around the lake is well suited for hiking and in winter you can also play ice hockey here.
Boat rental, beach volleyball, bike, swimming, sailing, diving, hiking
The Attersee is about 30 minutes away from Lambach and is a very popular destination, as it is one of the most beautiful lakes in Austria. In addition to numerous gastronomic offers in the villages around the lake, there is also a large number of leisure activities.
Whether swimming, diving, beach volleyball, boating or sailing, you will find everything you can think of at the Attersee! In addition to open beaches, there are also public bathing areas which are free as well.
Another great place for swimming is at the lake access of the municipality of Nussdorf, where you can find sunbathing lawns, beach volleyball courts and boat rentals. There are numerous public bathing areas at the Attersee. We suggest you try out various ones in order to find your favourite spot!
Culture
In Schmiding Zoo, which is about 25 minutes from Lambach, you will find giraffes, tigers, birds of prey and much more on an area of about 14 hectares of land. A highlight is the gorilla bay, a unique opportunity to watch the gorillas drumming, lounging or doing gymnastics.
In addition to the zoo, which is home to over 2000 animals, the aqua zoo offers a fascinating insight into the marine world. The aqua zoo is Austria’s largest marine aquarium, where you can marvel at reef sharks, ghost moray eels, piranhas and many other fascinating sea creatures.
You can even watch the feeding of the piranhas and reef sharks, which takes place every day (except Wednesdays) at 2 p.m. Animal lovers and friends of all sea creatures will definitely get their money’s worth here!
